President's Prize 2010

The Mixed Pairs Championship, sponsored by Nuala Ramsayer, was won by our President Tomas Roche and his wife Mary. They maintained their comanding lead on Alex and Ann Montwill from the 1st session with Dermot O'Brien and Paula Tolan retaining 3rd.

Wednesday 31st March and the Morgan Trophy was won by Grace Finegan and Conor O'Hara, a very popular win. They were followed by Miriam McConville and Mary Trench with Heidi lillis and Michael McGloughlin 3rd. The winners are pictures here with our President Tomás Roche.

A Special General Meeting was held at 6:30 on Wednesday 3rd March to vote on a proposal for associate membership for Regent Bridge Academy members. The motion was passed.

A very successful night was had by all. Heidi and Mai hosted a cocktail reception to get the night off to a good start. The President, Tomas Roche was pleased to announce that €2375 was collected for Heidi and Mai's Indian projects. Competition results here

The Butler Teams, held on 10 and 17th February, is sponsored by the International Academy of Computer Training (IACT). Patricia Kelly, Sandra Newell, Ann Hanratty and Helen Carroll maintained their 1st round lead to win the competition from John McNally, Joe Coyne, Brian Cleary and Ann Moylan Cleary with Tomas Roche, Seamus Dowling Jim Mullaly and Eamon Galligan third. A special Charity Pairs Competition was held in aid of the Haiti Disaster Fund. Over €1,700 was collected. It was held as part of the Ecats Simultaneous Pairs and the result can be checked on the Ecats site here or local result here

Wigoder Open Teams: The new year kicked off with the Wigoder Teams, an open event, which was won by members of the current Irish team - Adam Mesbur, Nick Fitzgibbon, John Carroll, Tom Hanlon and David Jackson. They were closely followed by BJ O'Brien, Ranald Milne, Michael and Padraig O'Briain with third place taken by Maria Whelan, Wojciech Gorczyca, Kitty O'Shea and Brendan Hayes. Mixed Teams: The Mixed Teams, which was sponsored by Grace Finegan was won by Joe Walsh, Aoife MacHale, Gerry Murtagh and Joyce Last from Bríd Kemple, Terry Walsh, Helen Carrol and Sean Treanor. Full results can be read here

Swiss Pairs: The season has started with the Swiss Pairs which was won by Steve and Cathy Bearpark, closely followed by Sean O'Lubaigh and Paul Delaney joint second with Stephanie O'Connor and Kay Meade. Full results can be read here

Wigoder Pairs: Despite some technical hitches, our Club Pairs Championship was successfully scored with Pat Ryan and Pat McMahon taking the honours from mother and daughter Peggy Shanahan and Miriam Bryan with Heidi Lillis and Jim Mullally taking third. Well done to the ladies once again.
